Position Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for providing on-site medical care, injury management, and wellness support in a fast-paced refrigerated food manufacturing environment. This role promotes safety, administers workers’ compensation, supports compliance and wellness programs, and ensures accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide first aid, triage, and follow-up for work-related injuries and illnesses.
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with applicable medical privacy guidelines.
Collaborate with HR, Safety, and Production to manage workplace health concerns.

Safety & Compliance
Assist with CPR and First Aid training and maintain certifications.
Participate as a key member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and assist in emergency drills.
Help Safety and HR update health and safety policies and support safety management system.
Coordinate specialized testing and documentation (e.g., hearing tests, chest X-rays, hyperbaric schedules).
Maintain first-aid supplies, monitor vaccines, and review medical invoices.
Assist with incident investigations alongside HR, Safety, and Operations teams as needed.
Participate in workplace hazard assessments, audits, and safety walkthroughs.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, and company safety standards.
Health Programs & Wellness
Administer wellness programs, including mental health and stress management initiatives.
Collaborate with Safety, Operations, and HR on return-to-work, disability and modified duty programs.
Conduct routine health screenings and ergonomic evaluations as required (e.g., hearing, temperature checks, blood pressure) to mitigate workplace hazards.
Recordkeeping & Documentation
Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, and company safety standards including OSHA 300 and 300A logs.
Track trends in injury/illness data and provide recommendations for improvement.
Administer workers’ compensation claims and liaise with physicians, clinics, insurers, and third-party administrators.

Qualifications

Education & Certification:
Registered Nurse (RN) required.
Current state nursing license in good standing.
CPR/AED certification required; First Aid Instructor certification a plus.
COHN or COHN-S (Certified Occupational Health Nurse) required.

Experience:
2+ years of nursing experience; occupational health, urgent care, ER, or industrial environment preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Proficiency with Benchmark Gensuite a plus.
Experience in manufacturing or food production environments is strongly preferred.
Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
Knowledge of OSHA standards, workers' compensation processes, and safety practices.
Familiarity with industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and hazardous materials preferred.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $75,708 - $113,562/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
