Occupational Therapist - Special needs school

A special schools development center in Qatar is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist in a full-time role.

BASIC FUNCTIONS

· Lead the development and delivery of occupational component of the teaching program

· Ensure the use of clinical knowledge and professional judgment in handling each child.

· Case management and ongoing assessment and reporting

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate and report on prospective students based on approved selection criteria and generate reports together with the head of special education

Evaluate the admitted children and prepare intervention plan for each child including admission, progress, and exit.

Execution of the plan accordingly to attain a maximum level of independence in the child

Modify the plan according to the requirement of the child in consultation with immediate supervisor.

Develop daily lesson plans in discussion with immediate supervisor; maintain daily progress reports and activity reports for each child.

Ensure safety of each child and minimize liability for the school.

Evaluates the student’s ability and formulates the student’s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.

Maintain and up to date filing of all relevant records in concerned student files.

Correspond with parents on the progress of each child and suggest techniques for training at home through approved channels.

Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.

Record and report on the progress of each child to be presented at parent teacher meetings, and periodically as required by the immediate supervisor.

Educates student, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.

Be accountable for all educational aids and equipment assigned to them or under their care for their classes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors or Masters in Occupational Therapy
  • Three years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in school system or other pediatric practice setting handling children with special needs.
  • Initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.

EXPERIENCE

At least Three (3) years of experience in similar work in similar setting, preferably in a single organization.

LANGUAGE/S

Fluency in English. Knowledge of any other language is considered as an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to QAR8,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Doha: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
