Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed occupational therapists in delivering therapeutic activities tailored to individual patient needs
  • Prepare treatment areas and gather necessary equipment for therapy sessions
  • Monitor patient responses during therapy, noting progress and any concerns for review by the therapist
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, including session details and observations
  • Support patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols and assisting with mobility or positioning as directed
  • Communicate effectively with patients to encourage engagement and provide emotional support during therapy
  • Utilize medical terminology and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding to accurately document diagnoses and treatment plans

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in patient service or healthcare settings is preferred but not required; training will be provided
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices
  • Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patient care
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively within a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare certifications are a plus
