Position Overview:

The Ocean Consolidation, Pricing & Operations Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing all activities related to ocean freight consolidation, pricing strategy, and day-to-day operational performance. This role ensures competitive pricing, seamless coordination between carriers and customers, and efficient handling of Less-than-Container Load (LCL) and Full-Container Load (FCL) shipments in compliance with international trade regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ocean Freight Consolidation & Operations Management

· Plan, manage, and execute LCL consolidation and deconsolidation processes for import and export shipments.

· Coordinate with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents to ensure space availability, schedule accuracy, and service reliability.

· Supervise booking, documentation, container stuffing, and customs clearance activities.

· Monitor container utilization, vessel schedules, and transit times to optimize operations.

2. Pricing Strategy & Rate Management

· Develop and implement competitive pricing models for FCL and LCL ocean freight services.

· Negotiate freight rates, surcharges, and service contracts with carriers, NVOCCs, and co-loaders.

· Maintain and update the pricing database to ensure timely quotations and profitability tracking.

· Evaluate market trends, competitor pricing, and fuel surcharges to adjust rate strategies.

3. Customer Service & Business Support

· Provide accurate and timely quotations to the sales team and key clients.

· Collaborate with the business development team to support customer retention and acquisition.

· Handle client escalations related to shipment delays, demurrage, or rate disputes.

· Ensure superior customer experience through proactive communication and service excellence.

4. Compliance & Documentation

· Ensure compliance with international maritime laws, INCOTERMS, and trade regulations.

· Oversee Bill of Lading (B/L) issuance, manifests, and shipment documentation accuracy.

· Maintain coordination with customs brokers, port authorities, and government agencies.

· Manage internal SOPs for document flow, shipment tracking, and operational reporting.

5. Performance & Cost Optimization

· Monitor and control operational costs to meet profit margin targets.

· Implement KPIs for consolidation turnaround, booking accuracy, and rate competitiveness.

· Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle times.

· Ensure integration and utilization of freight management systems (ERP / TMS).

6. Team Leadership & Coordination

· Supervise and develop the ocean freight team including pricing analysts, documentation officers, and operations staff.

· Conduct training to strengthen knowledge of shipping line operations, trade lanes, and pricing models.

· Foster collaboration with regional offices and overseas partners to ensure alignment of global standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight, pricing, and consolidation operations.

· Strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and NVOCCs.

· Hands-on experience with LCL/FCL operations, freight rate negotiations, and cost modeling.

· Proficiency in ERP / TMS / freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, SAP TM).

· In-depth knowledge of INCOTERMS, HS codes, port operations, and customs procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

· Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

· Excellent understanding of global ocean freight markets.

· Effective communication and client handling skills.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and logistics systems.
