Office Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager and field teams in the day-to-day management of construction activities.
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders in coordination with contractors, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and meeting minutes.
  • Track project progress, budgets, and schedules, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Coordinate and schedule project meetings, preparing agendas and documentation.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of construction documents and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Assist in preparing monthly progress reports and project closeout documentation.
  • Perform cost and quantity tracking for progress payments and budget forecasts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and public agencies, to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Support the preparation and review of as-built drawings and project deliverables.
  • Process contract change orders.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in review and processing of monthly progress payments.
  • Spot check daily reports and certified payroll in the performance of basic labor compliance tasks.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in construction management or civil engineering projects (internship experience considered).
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus but not required
  • EIT certification (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, civil infrastructure systems, and contract documents.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Caltrans specifications and procedures (preferred for California projects).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
