Western Roofing, Inc. is a local, well-established roofing company with a friendly, casual work environment. We are looking for an experienced Office Administrator/Bookkeeper who enjoys wearing many hats and taking ownership of both office operations and accounting.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and wants to be a key part of a small, stable team.
Position Overview
The Office Manager/Bookkeeper will manage day-to-day office functions and handle full-charge bookkeeping. You will support the President, VP, GM, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure smooth operations across payroll, benefits, insurance, and general administration. Because this role includes significant responsibility over financial transactions, assets, and/or confidential financial data, a background screening—including a credit check—will be conducted of the successful candidate only as permitted by applicable law and based on a bona fide business need directly related to the position.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch)
- Benefits: 401(k) w/ company match, insurance (company pays approximately 75%)
Key Responsibilities
Accounting / Bookkeeping
- Handle Accounts Payable: monitor vendor invoices, enter bills, and process checks
- Manage Accounts Receivable: apply ACH and other payments, track customer balances
- Perform GL coding and prepare journal entries
- Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for the CPA
- Maintain organized accounting files and records
Payroll & Payroll Taxes
- Process payroll and related payroll tax filings, including:
- 941, 940, SUTA, FAMLI
- W-2s, 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC
- 401(k) true-up and related reports
Office Administration & HR Support
- Maintain all employee records and benefits, including:
- E-Verify and new hire paperwork
- Garnishments
- 401(k), health, and dental insurance plans
- Tracking vacation and time off
- File and manage Worker’s Compensation and Unemployment claims
- Administer and maintain company insurance policies (Workers’ Comp, Liability, year-end audits)
- Manage vehicle registrations, plates, and related documentation
- Assist the President with memos, letters, and other correspondence
- Perform general office duties as assigned to keep operations running smoothly
Qualifications Required
- 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or full charge bookkeeping
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field)
- Strong understanding of debits/credits, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Proficient with QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
- Sales tax, use tax
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Experience handling payroll taxes and benefits administration
- Experience in roofing, construction, or related trades (a plus, not required) (Preferred)
- Job cost experience preferred
