About the Role
Millington & Co. is a public accounting firm seeking an experienced operations leader to run the internal engine of our business.
This is a senior-level role, not an administrative support position.
You will be responsible for driving firm operations across human resources, billing, collections, and workflow management. You will work directly with firm leadership to improve profitability, accountability, and execution.
If your background is primarily administrative (calendar management, front desk, basic clerical work), this role will not be a fit.
What You’ll Own
Firm Operations & Execution
- Own day-to-day operations across multiple office locations
- Identify inefficiencies and implement systems to improve performance
- Drive accountability across staff to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
HR Leadership
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
- Manage performance tracking, reviews, and personnel issues
- Ensure compliance with employment regulations and firm policies
Billing, WIP & Collections
- Take ownership of billing cycles, WIP management, and realization
- Actively manage A/R and lead collections efforts
- Partner with partners to improve cash flow and pricing discipline
Workflow & Capacity Management

Team & Administrative Leadership
- Supervise administrative staff and hold them accountable to performance standards
- Oversee internal systems, vendors, and operational infrastructure
- Act as the operational bridge between staff and firm leadership
Required Experience
- 5+ years in an operations, office management, or similar leadership role
- Prior experience in public accounting or a professional services firm strongly preferred
- Direct experience with billing, collections, and workflow management
- Experience managing people, not just tasks
- Proven ability to improve processes and hold a team accountable
Who This Role Is For
- You think like an operator, not a task executor
- You are comfortable having hard conversations and enforcing standards
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just responsibilities
- You can manage both people and numbers (utilization, realization, deadlines)
Who This Role Is NOT For
- Candidates with primarily administrative or clerical backgrounds
