Office Representative / Fort Smith

Summary:

The Office Representative is responsible for greeting, instructing, and directing patients and visitors. This role ensures the accurate and complete capture and registration of all necessary patient demographics and insurance information within the system. The representative performs all scheduling, check-in, and check-out duties in accordance with practice policies, and handles charge posting and over-the-counter payment processing.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE: Prefer one year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. (Familiar with ICD-10 and CPT coding). Knowledge of third party payers desirable. Computer experience required. Knowledge of business office procedures. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric system. Knowledge of customer service guidelines.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, BONDING: None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a clean, well-lighted, air-conditioned environment. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with some occasional walking/standing. Must be able to work in a stressful environment subject to interruptions from patients and staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases with protective measures and follow up treatments provided.
