Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining offset printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials according to job specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This role requires technical expertise in offset lithography, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate offset printing presses (sheet-fed or web)
  • Review job tickets, specifications, and artwork prior to production
  • Adjust press settings for ink, water balance, registration, and color consistency
  • Load paper, plates, and inks; perform plate mounting and blanket changes
  • Monitor print quality throughout production runs and make necessary adjustments
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on printing equipment
  • Troubleshoot printing issues such as color variation, misregistration, or paper jams
  • Ensure production output meets quality standards and deadlines
  • Maintain accurate production records and waste logs
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience operating offset printing presses preferred
  • Technical training or apprenticeship in printing technology is a plus
  • Knowledge of color theory, press mechanics, and print substrates

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to read job tickets and technical specifications
  • Knowledge of ink chemistry, paper types, and press operation
  • Attention to detail and color accuracy

Work Environment

  • Printing or manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to noise, inks, solvents, and mechanical equipment
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required

Machine operators work in shifts of 12 hours 7 days a week 24 hours (colloquially called 4-shift work) in which they do not have overtime and always have two days off in a week. Bonuses for working at night, on Sundays, and on holidays.
