Summary

The position will provide support in metadata creation and publishing assistance in the production of university-published scholarly journals and textbooks uploaded to ScholarWorks, the university repository. Training will be provided.

Essential Functions

  • Enter faculty publication citations into open access platforms and update existing records.
  • Scan print materials and complete metadata spreadsheets for special projects.
  • Assist with creation of university-published materials, including publication formatting, copyediting, and proofreading of submitted manuscripts and final publications.
  • Run accessibility checks on digital content using tools such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word's built-in checkers, in alignment with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Remediate PDFs and Word documents to meet accessibility requirements (e.g., headings structure, alt text, reading order).
  • Create and edit captions and transcripts for audio and video materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with design tools (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Additional Information

  • Familiarity with technology and willingness to learn
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) or prior coursework in a related field
  • Interest in open access, scholarly publishing, academic libraries, graphic design, or educational technology
  • Experience with digital design, web content, or captioning tools
