Position: Operation Engineer (Power)
(For MIC Solar Plant Only)
Experience Requirements:
-
Minimum 10–12 years of working experience in Electrical Engineering, specifically in:
-
Power transmission and distribution systems
-
Electrical engineering and technical practices
Qualifications:
-
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from an internationally recognized university or equivalent
-
Strong working knowledge and experience in:
-
Electrical power system operations.
-
MV/HV electrical maintenance.
Certification & Authorization:
-
Responsible for high voltage switching operations (220 kV & 33 kV) for Solar Plants in coordination with Kahramaa
-
Must undergo and pass Kahramaa familiarization and certification as a 220 kV Substation Switching Engineer within three (3) months of assignment
-
Failure to pass the KM authorization certification will result in rejection by Qatar Energy as not fit for scope under the contract
-
All expenses and documentation related to KM Authorization shall be borne by the Contractor
Technical Expertise (Equipment)
Experience shall include, but not be limited to:

HVAC systems

Firewater pumps
-
Fire & Gas Systems
-
33 kV AIS
-
220 kV GIS (mandatory)
Planning & Scheduling:
-
Support Maintenance Supervisor (Power) in:
-
Planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance works.
-
Ensuring alignment with asset management policy and strategy.
-
Create work orders in SAP.
-
Arrange required materials and logistics.
-
Authorized to plan and perform 220 kV & 33 kV high voltage switching in accordance with technical and HSE procedures.
Technical Support & Supervision:
-
Ensure technicians reporting to this position are competent.
-
Provide continuous technical support and guidance as required.
Scope of Work Development:

Bills of quantities for contracting.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

Conduct start-of-shift meetings and toolbox talks.

Ensure compliance with:

Permits to work.

Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)

Electrical authorizations.
-
Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.

Authorize start of work only after all HSE requirements are met.
Work Execution:

Supervise technicians during site execution.

Ensure:
-
Timely completion.
-
Efficient execution of assigned work orders.
Close-Outs & Documentation:
-
Verify completion of work orders.
-
Update SAP with:
-
Materials consumed.
-
Actual man-hours utilized.
Troubleshooting & Reliability Support:
-
Perform troubleshooting for assigned areas.
-
Support Reliability Engineer with:
-
Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
-
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Contracts Administration:
-
Administer maintenance contracts by:
-
Creating Release Orders.
-
Preparing Service Entry Sheets in SAP.
-
Manage day-to-day coordination with contractors’ supervisors/managers
Commissioning & Handover:
-
Participate in commissioning and handover of new equipment.
-
Verify:
-
Project dossiers.
-
As-built drawings.
-
Maintenance manuals.
-
Vendor lists.
-
Administer equipment warranties.
Kahramaa Interface:
-
Manage daily coordination with Kahramaa regarding:
-
System interruptions.
-
Switching activities.
Kahramaa Billing:
-
Monitor power import and export between the plant and Kahramaa.
-
Lead the monthly invoicing process.
