Operation Theatre Technician

Pre-Operative Duties

• Prepare the operation theatre according to surgical requirements
• Sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and OT environment
• Arrange surgical tools, drapes, and consumables
• Check functionality of OT equipment (lights, suction, monitors, anesthesia machines)
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation

Intra-Operative Support

• Provide instruments and supplies to surgeons and nursing staff
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques
• Operate and monitor OT equipment as required
• Assist anesthesia team when necessary
• Ensure accurate instrument counts during procedures

Post-Operative Duties

• Clean and disinfect operation theatre after procedures
• Handle and dispose biomedical waste according to protocols
• Prepare instruments for re-sterilization
• Maintain inventory of OT supplies and report shortages

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Operation Theatre Technology / Surgical Technology or equivalent
• Certification in sterilization or OT assistance preferred
• Knowledge of infection control and surgical procedures

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of aseptic and sterilization techniques
• Ability to work in high-pressure surgical environments
• Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols
• Team collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthetists
• Basic knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in a hospital operation theatre preferred
