We currently have an opening for an Operations Analyst.

This position is located in the Adult Correction Division. The Operations Analyst will be responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its citizens through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordination of Production Control using analytical and problem resolving skills, including enforcing Production Control standards
• Planning processing time and defining data needs with users and programmers through Zeke and recommending best output options for efficient delivery of reports
• First line of contact for identifying potential production problems
• Creating and maintaining JCL for processing and removing old datasets from Production Jobs that run through Zeke

About the Division:
The Technical Services Office is one of five core sections that reside within the Information Technology (IT) division of the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The core sections are Application Development, Quality Assurance, Technical Services, Network Services and the Information Security Office. The impact of the Technical Services Office is far reaching given that, on a statewide level, there are well over 26,000 DPS employees that require systems and computer support.

The Technical Services Office consists of application architects, Web Applications Infrastructure Administrators, Mainframe Systems and Database Administration Specialists. The Technical Services team’s objectives are to evaluate, implement emerging technologies and to provide application software support, systems support. Database administration for DPS (primarily for adult correction). This team reviews the application architecture documents and provides guidance to application development teams and vendors to implement web and mobile applications. This team serves as the primary point of contact for DIT. Application Development, Quality Assurance and clients for the resolution of variety of problems and administrative activities related to software, system security and database administration. This team monitors the usage of DIT resources; application software licenses and the cost associated with these resources.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

• Demonstrated experience supporting ZEKE or JCL on the Mainframe

• Demonstrated experience supporting Exporter on the Mainframe

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer science engineering or a closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution;

OR

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in operations/systems work or closely related area;

OR

Associate degree in computer information technology, computer engineering technology or networking technology from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in operations/systems work or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
