Operations and Maintenance Chief

The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Chief oversees day-to-day facilities maintenance operations in support of the BOS contract at Al Udeid Air Base. This role is responsible for ensuring all base facilities are safe, functional, and properly maintained through effective management of multi-trade maintenance teams, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire alarm systems. The O&M Chief focuses on service delivery, workforce supervision, and maintaining facility readiness in a fast-paced operational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily facilities maintenance activities across all trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, carpentry, and general maintenance).
  • Ensure timely completion of service calls, preventive maintenance, and repair work orders.
  • Manage and support trade supervisors and technicians, ensuring proper staffing, scheduling, and task execution.
  • Monitor workload, prioritize maintenance tasks, and adjust resources to meet mission needs.
  • Serve as the primary interface with government personnel for routine maintenance coordination and issue resolution.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure quality of work.
  • Track and report work order status, backlog, and overall maintenance performance.
  • Support planning and execution of minor repairs and facility improvements.
  • Ensure tools, materials, and parts are available to support maintenance operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and enforce all safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation using CMMS or similar systems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 8–12 years of experience in facilities maintenance
  • At least 3–5 years of supervisory experience managing maintenance teams.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Practical knowledge of building systems and general facility upkeep.
  • Experience with work order systems or CMMS.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience on BOS or similar government service contracts.
  • Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Experience working in overseas or remote environments.

TRAVEL: 100%, in deployed location.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
