Operations Head

Position Overview:

The Operations Head will oversee and manage overall laboratory operations, ensuring smooth workflow, compliance with accreditation standards, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and technical knowledge in laboratory operations, particularly in food, water, environmental, and chemical testing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring all activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Coordinate between laboratory departments (Chemical, Microbiological, Calibration, etc.).
• Monitor workload distribution, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency.

2. Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure strict adherence to ISO/IEC 17025, NABL/EIAC, and other relevant accreditation standards.
• Maintain compliance with internal quality management systems and external regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with auditors during internal and external audits.

3. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, and motivate laboratory staff to meet performance and quality standards.
• Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Address operational concerns, provide technical updates, and ensure client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with Sales/Business Development to support client acquisition and retention.

5. Financial & Resource Planning

• Prepare and monitor operational budgets, control costs, and optimize resources.
• Approve procurement of laboratory equipment, consumables, and services.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Identify areas for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, technology, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of laboratory operations experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
• Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 standards and laboratory accreditation processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
