Position: Operations Manager (School Operations & Infrastructure)

Job Purpose
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the smooth functioning of all non-academic operations of the school. This role ensures efficient management of infrastructure, transport, maintenance, events, safety, and supervision of non-teaching staff to create a safe, well-maintained, and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Infrastructure & Facilities Management
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance of school infrastructure including classrooms, offices, laboratories, washrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.
- Handle and resolve maintenance issues related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, civil work, HVAC, and general repairs.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns.
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs and AMC services.
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and statutory requirements.
2. Transport Management
- Manage the school transport system including buses, drivers, attendants, routes, and schedules.
- Ensure vehicle fitness, documentation, insurance, permits, and regular servicing.
- Handle transport-related complaints, breakdowns, emergencies, and route optimization.
- Ensure student safety during pick-up and drop-off.
3. Breakdown & Emergency Handling
- Act as the first point of contact for operational breakdowns (power failure, water issues, transport breakdowns, etc.).
- Coordinate quick resolution during emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to school activities.
- Maintain vendor and emergency contact lists.
4. Team Leadership – Non-Teaching Staff
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate non-teaching staff including helpers, security, drivers, cleaners, and maintenance staff.
- Assign duties, monitor attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Conduct regular briefings and ensure staff follow school policies and code of conduct.
- Support training and skill development of support staff.
5. Event & School Activity Support
- Plan and manage logistics for school events, assemblies, functions, examinations, and parent programs.
- Coordinate stage setup, seating, sound, lighting, electrical arrangements, and crowd management.
- Ensure timely availability of resources and staff during events.
6. Safety, Security & Compliance
- Ensure campus safety through effective security systems and staff supervision.
- Monitor CCTV, access control, fire safety equipment, and emergency preparedness.
- Conduct regular safety audits and drills in coordination with school leadership.
7. Inventory & Vendor Management
- Maintain records of assets, equipment, consumables, and maintenance logs.
- Procure materials as required within approved budgets.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts responsibly.
8. Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain operational reports, maintenance records, and transport logs.
- Coordinate closely with the Principal, Admin team, and academic staff.
- Proactively identify issues and suggest operational improvements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate in any discipline (Diploma/Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or Operations preferred).
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in operations/facilities management (school or institutional experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, civil, and maintenance systems.
- Experience in managing transport operations and large support teams.
