Operations Manager Fedex Contractor

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily Pickup and Delivery (P&D) operations for our FedEx contracting business. The successful candidate will be responsible for driver management, safety compliance, and meeting contractual service goals. Direct experience with FedEx Ground P&D operations is a requirement for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operational Oversight: Manage daily dispatch, route optimization, and terminal relations to ensure 100% service coverage.
• Personnel Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of 15–30 drivers; manage weekly scheduling and payroll reporting.
• Safety & Compliance: Monitor VEDR (Video) data, conduct safety training, and ensure all drivers adhere to DOT and FedEx Ground safety standards.
• Asset Management: Coordinate preventative maintenance for the fleet and ensure vehicles are inspected daily.
• Financial Performance: Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including stops per hour, fuel efficiency, and overall route profitability.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience specifically in FedEx Ground P&D operations.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with FedEx software systems (FCC, GroundCloud, and MyBiz).
• Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Physical Ability: Must be able to maneuver packages up to 150 lbs (with a dolly) and work in various weather conditions.
• Regulatory: Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.

Skills

• Strong leadership and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics software.
• Ability to work early morning hours (Dispatch typically starts between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM).
