Operations Manager, New Site

Overview

Job ID: Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd. Here at Amazon we're hiring for experienced Operations Managers to join our Customer Fulfillment team for the upcoming launch of our brand new Fulfillment Center in Horsley Park. This is an opportunity to be part of the AU Fulfillment Center leadership team during its expansion, defining process flows and shaping standard work as operations scale up. You'll deliver inspiring, inclusive leadership for the teams you supervise and get involved when necessary. You'll supervise a team of Area Managers and report to the Site Lead of your Fulfillment Center, balancing schedules and activities with business needs. You will coordinate on process improvement projects aiming to streamline activities and potentially roll out ideas across the Amazon network. We currently have multiple opportunities across both day and night shifts. The shift pattern is based on 4 days on and 3 days off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintaining Health and Safety standards within your remit area, while promoting an inspiring Health and Safety culture on-site.
  • Become a subject matter expert on specific, larger-scale processes and activities within FCs.
  • In your inventory control and systems environment, handle timely data collection and update operations metrics on an hourly basis.
  • Aim to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and ensure a high-quality customer experience.
  • Work closely with other support teams (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety and Security, IT) on staffing plans, schedules and performance levels.
  • Implement process change and contribute to cross-functional Six Sigma initiatives within your site and the broader Amazon Operations network.
Basic Qualifications
  • Previous experience in leading large, diverse teams.
  • Experience in employee and performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven experience in a similar, innovative logistics, distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to establish and carry out root cause analysis, and then extract and analyse the data you generate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills.
  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous.
  • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
