What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

Your role will be dynamic, but your primary focus will be on building a world-class people operations function.

People & HR

  • Own the Employee Lifecycle: Manage all aspects of employee experience, from seamless onboarding of new hires to supportive offboarding.
  • Build Our HR Foundation: You will take the lead in researching, selecting, and implementing an HRIS (Human Resources Information System) that fits our needs.
  • Manage Performance & Growth: Coordinate our entire performance cycle, including annual reviews, objective tracking (OKRs/KPIs), and documenting career paths.
  • Administer Compensation: Confidentially track and manage all compensation data, including raises and bonuses.
  • Champion Company Culture: Act as a go-to resource for the team, fostering a positive, communicative, and inclusive work environment.

Admin & Accounting

  • Handle Payroll & Benefits: Process payroll and manage benefits administration for our employees across the US (10) and Canada (4), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support Financial Operations: Assist with light accounting tasks, including expense report processing and accounts payable/receivable support.
  • Oversee Office Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for our two North American office locations, managing supplies, vendors, and creating a productive physical workspace.

Compliance & Quality

  • Drive Compliance Documentation: Maintain and track critical documentation related to our ISO 27001 managed policies, ensuring our workforce is aligned with security and quality standards.
  • Coordinate Employee Training: Track the completion of mandatory training (e.g., security awareness) and other professional development programs.

What We're Looking For: Qualifications & Skills

We're looking for a proactive, trustworthy, and incredibly organized individual who is excited about making a significant impact.

Must-Haves:

  • 2-4+ years of experience in a role with significant HR responsibilities (e.g., HR Coordinator, People Operations Generalist, or an EA/Office Manager with a heavy HR focus).
  • Demonstrated experience handling highly confidential information with the utmost discretion (e.g., payroll, performance reviews, compensation data).
  • A process-driven mindset with an obsession for detail and organization. You love creating checklists, improving workflows, and bringing order.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; you can build rapport and trust with everyone from new hires to the executive team.
  • A "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude, ready to tackle challenges in a fast-paced startup environment.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience selecting and implementing an HRIS or other key business software.
  • Familiarity with processing payroll and benefits, especially in a multi-state or US/Canada context.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks like ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
