Operations Supervisor

The Opportunity

As an Operations Supervisor, you are the heartbeat of our local facility. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of our drivers and helpers, ensuring that our Elizabeth City routes are serviced with the highest level of professionalism and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead & Mentor: Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team of drivers and helpers. You’ll be responsible for fostering a positive culture and managing performance.

• Operational Excellence: Direct daily collection and disposal services, optimizing routes and equipment to ensure every customer is serviced on time.

• Customer Advocacy: Resolve customer issues promptly, ensuring that GFL remains the preferred provider in the region.

• Compliance & Accuracy: Oversee driver logs, vehicle inspections, and productivity data entry to ensure we stay compliant with all CDL and DOT regulations.

• Resource Management: Maintain inventory and supplies to keep your team equipped for success.

• Lead monthly safety meetings and conduct routine route observations.

• Investigate any incidents with a focus on prevention and continuous improvement.

• Ensure every team member has and uses the proper safety equipment every single day.

What You Bring:

• Experience: At least one (1) year of supervisory experience OR one (1) year as a GFL Lead Driver.

• Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in waste management or transportation is highly preferred. Familiarity with CDL regulations is a major plus.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Leadership Style: A proactive problem-solver who can stay calm under pressure and lead by example.
