We are seeking a senior-level Operations Support Specialist 4 (OSS 4) to support Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) and construction operations within a Hazard Category 2 nuclear facility at LANL.
This role is ideal for a high-level construction leader who can operate beyond traditional project execution—someone who can anticipate risk, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe, compliant delivery of complex nuclear work.
You will serve as a key interface between facility operations and construction teams, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOE standards.
Strong construction management experience in DOE or nuclear environments
Proven ability to lead field teams in high-hazard radiological facilities
Experience supporting D&D, facility modifications, or nuclear construction projects
Ability to see ahead, anticipate issues, and drive execution proactively
Background in DOE, NNSA, or highly regulated industries (Navy Nuclear, oil & gas, etc.)
Lead and oversee construction and D&D operations in a CAT II nuclear facility
Ensure safe, compliant, and timely execution of all project deliverables
Coordinate across engineering, operations, work control, and subcontractors
Provide technical oversight and direction to field teams and project personnel
Manage budgets, schedules, and performance tracking
Ensure compliance with DOE regulations, NQA-1, and Laboratory standards
Develop and improve processes, documentation, and operational workflows
Serve as a key decision-maker in resolving complex field issues
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in construction or operations
Demonstrated experience:
Leading construction teams in nuclear or highly regulated environments
Supporting field execution, work control, or project operations
Working in complex, high-risk environments with multiple stakeholders
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance
15+ years of construction experience (strongly preferred)
DOE / NNSA project experience (5+ years preferred)
Experience in D&D projects or nuclear facility modifications
Previous qualifications as:
Field Work Supervisor (FWS)
Responsible Line Manager (RLM)
Experience working in plutonium facilities (TA-55 / PF4)
Strong understanding of NQA-1, quality assurance, and compliance frameworks
Ability to lead and coordinate construction teams in radiological environments
Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
Excellent time management, tracking, and execution discipline
Proactive mindset—anticipates issues before they impact execution
