Operator A Bunker Barge

Job Description

  • Confirms bunkering requirement with Marine accounting. Receives bunker documentation, and reviews with Marine accounting shift supervisor. When order accepted and suitable barge allocated, records requirement on the Bunkering Activity board.
  • Loads Bapco-1, Варсо-2, ог Варсо-3 in accordance with the Loading Procedure for Bunker Barges.
  • Validates correct sampling procedures are carried out and that documentation associated with loading the product is correctly and accurately completed.
  • Calculates quantities of product received aboard during loading to the barge; and delivered after each custody transfer.
  • Supervises launch and barge crews, scheduling their activities according to operational requirements. Coordinates the mooring launches movement for Island Wharf use, berthing/unberthing and transportation of other personnel such as MDI Inspectors and contractors.
  • During Shift, logs marine craft movements, checks unmanned craft fuel levels land ensures they are refueled before day shift.
  • During Shift, inspects Fire & Safety equipment and notes and reports any deficiencies. Notes and reports any damage to marine craft or jetties or any other items requiring attention.
  • On Shift, issues rope/wire from stores compound as required and records same for Day shift action.
  • Checks unmanned craft mooring lines during back shifts and adjusts the mooring rope length according to tide movement.
  • Assures all preconditions for work and fire permits are in compliance.
  • Starts barge generator with ignition key but uses starting handle if battery problem experienced.
  • Inspects cargo hoses. Uncoils 1½" hose lengths on barge deck and physically checks all hose lengths including ends. if damaged, replaces with new ones.
  • Performs barge safety check of fire extinguishers, life jackets, life buoys and sand buckets. Records findings
  • Carries out monthly bunker delivery audit by calculating amount of cargo loaded and number of bunkers delivered in that month.
  • Accompany vessel's Chief Engineer to witness tank opening and closing gauges. Sounding as witnessed is recorded on the loading sheet, signed by Barge Operator and countersigned by vessel's Chief Engineer.
  • Gauges diesel tank 23. The opening and closing gauges are taken by an ullage tape before & after refueling marine craft at Launch Basin.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Certificate.
  • Total 4 years' experience of which 1 year as Coxswain and 3 years as crewman on bunker barges.
  • Must know how to read thermometers and ullage tapes.
  • Must know the barge specification and capabilities ie length overall, draft, beam, cargo capacity.
