A scale dispatcher is responsible for accurately weighing outgoing loads of aggregate in accordance
with customer demands. They communicate with customers both internal and external, and coordinate moving trucks
to accommodate delivery needs.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Accurately weigh and ticket outgoing loads utilizing a scale and PC.
- Precisely record data on a designated system, ensuring accurate billing and inventory management.
- Direct drivers in the yard, provide delivery instructions, and address any issues related to the loading or weighing process.
- Generate reports on daily weighing activities, identifying concerns and trends, and providing clear information for the team.
- Perform basic scale maintenance checks and report issues to the operations team.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize deliveries in a fast-paced environment.
- Firm understanding of all company software, including Excel, Word, AUJS, and dispatch systems.
- Strong understanding of traffic and roads in the geographical area of our target market.
- Strong attention to detail, as accurate data entry is crucial to proper billing and inventory management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak to drivers, customers, and other departments and address their concerns in a timely manner.
- Basic math skills to perform calculations related to weight and load quantities.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
- Driver record cannot contain any reckless driving offences, DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident, etc.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling, and/or action/discipline.
