Operator - Scales

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Accurately weigh and ticket outgoing loads utilizing a scale and PC.
• Precisely record data on a designated system, ensuring accurate billing and inventory management.
• Direct drivers in the yard, provide delivery instructions, and address any issues related to the loading or weighing process.
• Generate reports on daily weighing activities, identifying concerns and trends, and providing clear information for the team.
• Perform basic scale maintenance checks and report issues to the operations team.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize deliveries in a fast-paced environment.
• Firm understanding of all company software, including Excel, Word, AUJS, and dispatch systems.
• Strong understanding of traffic and roads in the geographical area of our target market.
• Strong attention to detail, as accurate data entry is crucial to proper billing and inventory management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak to drivers, customers, and other departments and address their concerns in a timely manner.
• Basic math skills to perform calculations related to weight and load quantities.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
• Driver record cannot contain any reckless driving offences, DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident, etc.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling, and/or action/discipline.
