Ophthalmic Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinic flow. Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by conducting visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic procedures using specialized ophthalmic equipment.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during exams and procedures by maintaining aseptic technique and ensuring all instruments are properly sterilized.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
  • Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, processing medical billing and coding, and handling patient inquiries with professionalism.
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Provide education to patients on eye health, medication instructions, and post-procedure care to enhance their understanding and comfort.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and scheduling.
  • Experience with optical equipment used for vision testing and diagnostics is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of medical billing, coding practices, and HIPAA compliance ensures accurate record keeping and confidentiality.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
