Ophthalmic Technician

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within a thriving ophthalmology clinic. You will be responsible for assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists in various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge and experience, along with excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, including obtaining medical history and vital signs.
  • Assist in performing diagnostic tests and procedures, ensuring the use of aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as ModMed for patient management and data entry.
  • Provide education to patients regarding their conditions and treatment options.
  • Support ophthalmologists during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations and patient flow.
  • Stay current with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical office or eye clinic setting is HIGHLY preferred.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology practices and procedures is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly ModMed, is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Ability to perform tasks related to patient care, including taking vital signs and conducting intake assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
  • Aseptic technique knowledge is essential for maintaining a sterile environment during procedures.
