Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and identify their eyewear needs through engaging conversations and professional consultation
• Assist clients in selecting frames that complement their face shape, style preferences, and budget, utilizing retail sales techniques
• Take precise measurements for lens prescriptions, including pupillary distance (PD) and frame fitting parameters
• Verify prescriptions using medical terminology knowledge and ensure proper documentation within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
• Conduct basic vision assessments including vital signs and assess patient comfort during fittings
• Maintain laboratory experience by adjusting frames, repairing lenses, and ensuring quality standards are met before dispensing
• Educate customers on proper frame care, lens options, and the importance of regular eye exams while promoting retail sales of eyewear accessories
• Follow HIPAA guidelines diligently to protect patient privacy when handling medical records and sensitive information
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists or optometrists in clinic environments to support comprehensive eye care services including pediatrics and senior care patients
• Uphold aseptic techniques during frame adjustments or repairs to maintain a sterile environment

Skills

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health
• Experience with optical equipment, laboratory procedures, and EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms
• Proven ability in retail sales with excellent communication skills to educate and persuade customers effectively
• Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and documentation standards aligned with HIPAA compliance
• Ability to interpret vital signs and basic clinical data to support patient assessments in clinic settings
• Knowledge of pediatric and senior care needs to provide tailored eyewear solutions for diverse age groups
• Retail management experience or retail math skills beneficial for inventory control and sales tracking
