Duties

• Greet patients and customers warmly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
• Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that suit their style, needs, and prescription requirements.
• Conduct basic eye assessments, including measuring vital signs related to vision health and performing preliminary tests.
• Support the clinical team with laboratory tasks such as lens fitting, adjustments, and maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures.
• Obtain, explain and submit patient insurance.
• Manage patient records accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Epic or similar platforms while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care, medical terminology related to eye health, and the importance of regular check-ups.
• Support retail sales initiatives by applying retail math skills to optimize inventory and sales performance while providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in optical or retail sales environments is highly preferred; familiarity with optical experience or laboratory work is a plus.
• Knowledge of ophthalmology concepts including anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical terminology related to vision health.
• Understanding of medical billing, coding, and medical records management to support clinical documentation processes.
• Ability to operate EMR systems such as Epic or other healthcare software efficiently.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly and professionally.
• Experience with vital signs measurement and basic clinic procedures; knowledge of HIPAA compliance is essential.
• Knowledge of health and vision insurance benefits.

Pay: $24.22 - $25.00 per hour
