Your Role Will Include:
- Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
- Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals.
- Prepare referral letters and type SOP notes as directed by the physician. Ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
- Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
Essential Skills
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills
- Ability and willingness to take direction and be a member of a team providing patient care, including adapting to the provider's working style
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ is ideal)
- Ability to work approximately 15-20 hours per week
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and concern for patient needs
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; some college preferred
- Experience in a professional, customer-focused environment
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
