1. Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations
- Perform refraction and prescribe corrective lenses
- Detect visual problems such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia
- Identify early signs of eye diseases (e.g., glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration)
- Prescribe and fit contact lenses
- Provide post-fitting follow-ups and adjustments
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary
2. Customer Care & Consultation
- Explain prescription results clearly to customers
- Guide customers in selecting suitable lenses (single vision, bifocal, progressive, blue-light filtering, etc.)
- Provide advice on frame selection based on face shape, prescription, and lifestyle
- Educate customers on lens care and eye health
3. Retail & Sales Support
- Collaborate with sales staff to enhance customer experience
- Support achieving store sales targets through professional recommendations
- Promote premium lens options and coatings
- Maintain strong product knowledge (frames, lenses, brands, pricing)
4. Store & Operational Duties
- Maintain patient records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with local optical regulations
- Manage appointment schedules
- Supervise optical assistants or technicians (if applicable)
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of optometry equipment
5. Skills Required
- Strong clinical knowledge of optometry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sales awareness and customer-oriented mindset
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
6. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Doctor of Optometry (OD), depending on country regulations
- Valid professional license/registration
- Experience in retail optical practice (preferred)
