Operating Room Patient Care Attendant — Willis Knighton North
In this role, you will provide essential non‑clinical assistance that helps ensure a safe, efficient, and patient-centered operating room environment, and support our perioperative services team. This position is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare, patient safety, and teamwork within a fast-paced surgical setting. Participation in a rotating call schedule is required, and the final shift will be determined upon completion of orientation.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Support
- Safely transport patients to and from the operating room and perioperative areas
- Assist with patient positioning and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patients as directed by clinical staff
Operating Room Support
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up equipment, furniture, and supplies
- Clean and turnover operating rooms between procedures following infection prevention guidelines.
- Stock and organize supplies and equipment.
- Transport soiled instruments, equipment, and waste according to policy.
Safety and Team Collaboration
- Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality (HIPAA) standards.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or hazards.
- Work closely with nurses, surgical technologists, anesthesia staff, and physicians to support efficient case flow.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a hospital, operating room, or patient care environment
- Knowledge of safe patient handling and healthcare safety practice
