Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Oracle 11g Developer/Database Specialist to join our IT team. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our legacy Oracle 11g environment, developing custom solutions using PL/SQL and related tools, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with our internal staff. This role is critical for ensuring the stability and evolution of our core business system in the printing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support our existing Oracle 11g database and custom applications, including performance tuning, backups, and issue resolution.
- Develop and implement new customizations and enhancements using PL/SQL, SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and packages.
- Analyze business requirements from production, printing, and operations teams to design and deploy tailored solutions (e.g., custom reports, forms, workflows related to job quoting, scheduling, inventory, or billing).
- Optimize queries and database objects for efficiency in our high-volume printing environment.
- Troubleshoot and debug existing code, interfaces, and integrations.
- Provide technical guidance and training to internal staff on Oracle-related tasks.
- Collaborate with end-users to gather requirements and ensure solutions align with printing press operations.
- Document code, customizations, and processes for knowledge transfer.
- Monitor database health, security, and apply patches as needed (within legacy constraints).
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database 11g (11.2 preferred), including administration, development, and maintenance.
- Strong proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and packages.
- Experience with Oracle tools such as Oracle Forms, Reports, SQL*Plus, or similar (experience with Oracle APEX is a plus).
- Proven track record of customizing and maintaining legacy Oracle systems.
- Knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, backup/recovery (e.g., RMAN), and basic security best practices.
- Ability to work independently on legacy systems while supporting a small team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to interact with non-technical staff in a manufacturing/printing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the printing, manufacturing, or production industry (e.g., custom systems for job tracking, press management, or inventory).
- Familiarity with Oracle EBS or custom ERP-like modules.
- Basic knowledge of newer Oracle versions for potential future migration discussions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
