At The Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Specialists of San Diego, you’ll work alongside two of San Diego’s top oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Paul Koshgerian and Dr. Jonathan Shelton. This role is designed as a cross-location oral surgery assistant, supporting our three San Diego offices (92120, 92117, and 91913). This position plays a critical role in maintaining consistency, coverage and high-level clinical support across all locations.

As part of this structure, when a full-time, permanent position becomes available at a specific location, this candidate will be given first consideration and priority for placement.

As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will:

  • Provide expert chairside support during a wide range of surgical and implant procedures.
  • Support consultations by delivering clear, confident patient education and setting expectations.
  • Anticipate surgeon and patient needs with precision and professionalism.
  • Mentor and model teamwork for junior assistants and peers.
  • Manage CBCT imaging, EHR documentation, sterilization, and compliance protocols at the highest level.
  • Deliver thorough, compassionate pre- and post-operative care.
  • Adapt seamlessly between locations while maintaining consistency in clinical excellence and team collaboration.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years proven experience as an oral surgery assistant consistently in an oral surgery office (required).
  • BLS & X-Ray certification required; DAANCE, OMSA, ACLS strongly valued.
  • Deep understanding of surgical protocols, safety, and compliance.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and patient-relations skills.
  • Commitment to supporting surgeons, cultivating team success, and delivering world-class patient experiences.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple locations as part of a high-impact, cross-functional role. Schedule will be provided with advanced notice.
