Organ Procurement Specialist
The Organ Procurement Specialist (OPS) plays a crucial role in the complex field of organ donation. The OPS role provides education and process guidance to operating room staff and surgeons surrounding the organ recovery process. OPS’s are responsible for the packaging, labeling, and care of organs post-recovery. Drawing on multiple backgrounds like surgical technology, emergency services, and paramedicine, the OPS is pivotal in coordinating, facilitating, and managing the organ recovery process.
- In this role, you will work 13 nights (7p-7a) 12-hour, on-call shifts and 2 24-hour, on-call shifts per month (monthly shifts are self-scheduled, weekend requirements included).
- 12 hours on-call can turn into longer shifts – Donor Alliance covers two states – Colorado and Wyoming. We service the third-largest geographical area of all Organ Procurement Organizations.
- Collaboration is essential in this role. Communication between multiple teams and hospital staff within tight timeframes is challenging and vital to making our mission happen. You will utilize a variety of systems and phone work to communicate among the teams.

You will be able to explore a variety of advanced practice skills throughout your tenure. Examples: recover research organs, clean arterial cuffs for profusion, recover kidney biopsies, and assist surgeons.

Qualifications & Skills

Education and Relationship Management – we work closely with medical teams to ensure procedures are executed smoothly and efficiently, often serving as a bridge between healthcare providers and our internal teams during intense moments.

Healthcare – having exposure to hospital and operating room settings is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- $30.21-$33.99/hour
