Ortho Dental Assistant

We are seeking a kind, high energy team player with exceptional customer service skills, a great sense of humor who is great at multi-tasking and attention to detail to join our ortho family as an Orthodontic Assistant in a busy fast paced environment. This position is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service while creating value to ensure new and existing patients are prepared for their patient experience.

Primary Duties:

  • Assists Orthodontist with procedures and treatments
  • Take radiographs and Orthodontic Records
  • Take all appropriate facial and intra-oral photographs
  • Scan for Clear Aligners
  • Prepare patient for appropriate procedures
  • Set up and breakdown room. Disinfect surfaces
  • Sterilize instruments
  • Educate patient regarding their oral health care and treatment plans
  • Assist Orthodontist with Digital Workflows and 3D printing
  • Handle orthodontic emergencies, triage, provide allowable services then schedule follow-up doctor services
  • Assist Dentist with remote consultations/ exams
  • Supply ordering and inventories
    • Review on-hand bracket & orthodontic wire inventories regularly
    • Review on hand Invisalign supply
  • Regular scanner maintenance and updates- monthly
  • All OSHA regulatory sterilizer testing and documentation
  • Monthly OSHA Safety meetings
  • Monthly Equipment and facilities evaluations
  • Small equipment and handpiece maintenance
  • Check schedule to ensure all lab cases are received and checked in before appointment
  • Other duties as directed by Orthodontist

Other Duties (as needed):

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Confirm patient appointments
  • Schedule appointments
  • Prepare patient charts by accurately transferring and recording data to Practice Management System
  • Prepare, present, and schedule treatment plans
  • Maintain cleanliness of practice as requested
  • Will be required to rotate between both locations
  • Other duties as requested by Practice Manager
  • Preferred ortho experience of at least one year

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a dental assisting program; orthodontic assisting certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, procedures, and terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols.
  • Proficiency with dental software and digital imaging systems.
  • Current CPR and radiology certification (as required by state regulations).
