Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Duties
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and progress.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation when necessary, especially for pediatric or medically complex patients.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and maintaining organized medical records.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with experience in chairside assisting across various specialties including orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation efficiently.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately while following safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
- Experience working in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry is preferred.
