Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties
- Assess and manage orthopedic patients in the emergency department, outpatient clinics, and inpatient wards.
- Conduct thorough history taking, physical examinations, and appropriate investigations.
- Develop treatment plans in collaboration with consultants and the wider medical team.
- Assist in, or perform under supervision, orthopedic procedures such as fracture reductions, joint aspirations, and minor surgeries.
- Participate in major surgical procedures as first or second assistant.
- Monitor post-operative patients and manage complications promptly.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records.
On-Call Duties
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 orthopedic coverage.
- Manage acute orthopedic presentations, including trauma, infections, and post-operative complications.
Teaching and Training
- Supervise and support junior medical staff, interns, and medical students.
- Participate in departmental teaching sessions, morbidity and mortality meetings, and clinical audits.
- Attend and contribute to continuing medical education (CME) activities.
Administrative and Other Duties
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research, if applicable.
- Contribute to discharge planning and coordination with allied health professionals.
