JOB POSTING FOR COUNTY APPRAISER

Osage County, Kansas (“County”) is seeking applications for the position of the appointed county appraiser. The County Appraiser is responsible for discovering, listing and valuing all taxable property within the County and provides for equalization of all such properties to ensure fair and equitable taxation.

1. Job Duties

• Perform statutory duties of County Appraiser pursuant to K.S.A. 79-1412a.
• Perform such duties and responsibilities designated by the Property Valuation Department and the Board of Osage Commissioners.
• Establish and effectively administer daily, weekly, monthly and yearly County Appraiser Office work and project schedules.
• Consult with the Commission, as well as State and Federal Authorities when required, relative to project planning and execution, personnel and equipment needs.
• Exercise direct responsibility over the County Appraiser’s Office, its personnel and equipment, to ensure that all are properly motivated, maintained, and ready to perform assigned tasks.
• Assure adequate record keeping is performed in order that accurate accounting of projects can be carried out and retained. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Commission from time to time.

2. Appointment Details

• Term: January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029
• Salary: $70,000 to $85,000 (negotiated)

3. Experience Required

• Applicant must be a registered mass appraiser, with more than three years mass appraisal experience and is considered qualified by the director of property valuation to act as county appraiser for the county
