Job Title

Operation Theatre Nurse / OT Nurse / Perioperative Nurse

Key Responsibilities 1. Pre-Operative Duties

• Prepare the operating room (sterilization, equipment setup)
• Check surgical instruments and supplies
• Verify patient identity and surgical procedure
• Assist in positioning and preparing the patient
• Ensure consent forms and documentation are complete

2. Intra-Operative Duties

• Assist surgeons during procedures
• Maintain sterile environment
• Handle surgical instruments (Scrub Nurse role)
• Monitor patient’s vital signs (Circulating Nurse role)
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery

3. Post-Operative Duties

• Assist in transferring patient to recovery room
• Monitor immediate post-surgery condition
• Document procedure details
• Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of OT

Required Qualifications

• Diploma / B.Sc Nursing
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• OT/Perioperative training (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures
• Sterilization and infection control expertise
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure
• Teamwork and communication skills
• Quick decision-making ability

Work Environment

• Hospitals
• Surgical centers
• Emergency trauma units
• Specialty clinics (cardiac, orthopedic, neuro, etc.)

Salary (Varies by Country & Experience)

• Entry Level: Moderate range
• Experienced OT Nurse: Higher salary with specialization
