OT Staff Nurse

Job Summary:

The OT Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, sterile, and efficient nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves assisting surgeons, maintaining OT protocols, and ensuring patient safety and infection control standards are strictly followed.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Operative Care:

• Prepare OT, instruments, and equipment as per surgical requirements
• Verify patient identity, consent, and surgical checklist
• Assist in patient preparation and positioning
• Ensure availability of sterile supplies and medications

Intra-Operative Care:

• Assist surgeons as scrub nurse or circulating nurse
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques
• Monitor patient condition during procedures
• Handle instruments, sutures, and OT equipment safely

Post-Operative Care:

• Assist in transferring patients to recovery room
• Monitor post-operative vitals and patient condition
• Document surgical notes and nursing records
• Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste

OT Management & Safety:

• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of OT
• Follow infection control and safety protocols
• Ensure proper handling of instruments and linen
• Report equipment malfunction or safety issues
