A Brief Overview
Repairs, adjusts, maintains, modifies, operates and installs various systems, utilities, equipment and related items. Responsible for providing a safe, attractive and functional environment. This position interacts with employees, administration, physicians, volunteers, contractors, vendors, regulatory officials and the community.
What you will do
Operations/Maintenance Functions:
- Maintains general repair/installation work on all types of Hospital equipment, systems or facilities.
- Processes work orders and preventive maintenance orders through the system in an effective and timely manner.
- Prioritize and perform any task or duty as requested and assigned in order to accommodate hospital and departmental needs.
- Evaluates malfunctioning systems, utilities and equipment and recommends repair or replacement as necessary.
- Assures proper operational and regulatory documentation is maintained.
- Assures that the facility, equipment, and its systems are maintained to meet regulatory requirements and in a safe operating condition and continually works in a safe manner following all relevant policies, procedures and codes.
- Assist contractors and consultants as necessary with construction projects and system’s operational problems and maintenance issues.
- Keeps self-informed on code requirements and changes in procedures.
- Maintains a clean work area, tools and shop.
- Develops spare parts recommendations for equipment and submits repair parts requisitions as necessary.
- Has knowledge of building plans and working drawings so as to assist in the repairs of systems and equipment.
- Works closely and assist other maintenance personnel as necessary.
- Maintains documentation of all necessary records and daily operation records.
- Assist and accommodates the needs of required inspections: insurance carriers, EPA, and State of Indiana.
- Installs or repairs all types of systems, utilities, equipment, piping, valves, and fixtures with a working knowledge of relevant codes and practices.
Operations/Maintenance General Tasks:
- Replace and repair lock sets.
- Maintains key and security systems.
- Install all types of interior or exterior hardware.
- Replace ceiling tiles.
- Hang dispensers, interior signage, pictures and other items.
- Repair casework and doors.
- Replace or repair glass windows.
- Maintains intercom systems.
- Utilize Red Tag Permit System.
Outlying Facilities Specific Functions:
- Answer emergency calls after hours and on weekends when on call.
- Able to trouble shoot and diagnose HVAC and building systems issues.
- Responsible to maintain the electrical systems in the buildings to include generators, replacing switches, receptacles, repair and replace ballasts, emergency lights, bulbs and other fixtures.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs; clear stopped up drains and replace faucets.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Can function as a charge person with responsibility for completion of assignments. Assists and instructs as required but generally performs the same work as other maintenance technicians.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Preferred
