JOB SUMMARY

Transports specimens, supplies and reports between Outreach Clients’ offices and Hamilton Medical Center as needed. Receives specimens from clients with patients of all age populations and organizes specimens for appropriate testing. Registers patients in the computer system for proper identification, testing, and billing. Assures supplies and reports are ready for delivery to clients in a timely manner. May be required to spend up to but not to exceed 30% of time performing phlebotomy or other specimen collections. Provides friendly, caring service that shows respect for all customers and employees and that meets their needs and exceeds expectations. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Licensure : None

Experience: Good driving record. Specific Duties: On-the-job training.

Skills: Good driving skills. Ability to distinguish sound in low to high range to assure proper operation of clinical equipment. Ability to

communicate with other healthcare providers by telephone to obtain or give information critical to patient care. Computer Keyboard/Typing, medical terminology, good communication and organizational skills preferred. Phlebotomy skills required.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposed to normal hazards of clinical laboratory setting such as exposure to disease-bearing specimens, toxic chemicals and hazardous wastes. Working in area with processing of high volume required. Required to work posted schedule, which may include holidays or weekends. Moderate walking, stooping and bending. Lifting and carrying light loads. Sitting period of time performing clerical functions. Subject to callback as needed. Stress of time constraints and changing activities. Requires analytical skill such as

problem analysis and initial corrective action within guidelines. Working outside, driving a specified route under time constraints in a hospital-furnished vehicle.
