Position Summary:
The Account Manager – Outside Sales is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio, primarily in the construction and building trades. This is a field-based role focused on building long-term relationships, driving new business, and meeting sales targets. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, knowledgeable about construction materials, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-first environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to retain and grow accounts

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with contractors, builders, and developers

  • Conduct regular site visits to assess customer needs, resolve issues, and provide product recommendations

  • Prepare and present quotes, bids, and product proposals

  • Collaborate with inside sales, operations, and dispatch teams to ensure timely deliveries and service excellence

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and product knowledge

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and customer communication using CRM tools

  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of outside sales experience in construction, building materials, or related industry

  • Proven track record of achieving sales goals and growing customer accounts

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of building materials (lumber, drywall, hardware, etc.) strongly preferred

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Ability to travel locally on a daily basis
