Job Overview

Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Administer medication and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and medical directives.
- Support clients with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia by implementing behavior management strategies and engaging in therapeutic activities.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and update care plans regularly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Drive clients to appointments or outings safely while adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid skills and following established protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, case managers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Manage conflict situations with patience and effective communication to ensure a peaceful environment for clients.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home care, or with individuals with disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and patient confidentiality standards is essential.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks such as transferring residents using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect empathetically with clients from diverse backgrounds including those with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for transportation duties.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is required; additional certifications such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care are advantageous.
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately while demonstrating flexibility in dynamic environments.
