Job Title: Overhead Line Design Engineer (OHL up to 400kV)

Requirement – 1 No.

EHV Transmission (Overhead Lines)

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5 to 7+ years of dedicated OHL design experience in an EPC environment, with a strong background in transmission projects up to 400kV.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of local utility standards and crossing regulations for highways and energy sectors.
  • Software: High proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-TOWER.
  • Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to coordinate seamlessly with civil, electrical, and construction teams.

Deep Expertise: Overhead Line Design

Key Responsibilities:

Line Routing & Modeling:

  • Perform mechanical design and layout work to determine the accurate center line, elevations, and tower spotting for transmission lines.
  • Utilize industry-standard software, such as PLS-CADD and PLS-TOWER, to create line profiles and tower designs.
  • Calculate and maintain strict, safe ground clearances where overhead lines cross highways, existing power lines, railway networks, and major energy pipelines.
  • Design necessary safety measures for these crossings, including guard wires, concrete crash posts for towers near roads, and protection slabs over pipelines.
  • Select and design systems using steel lattice towers, composite insulators, and high-capacity phase conductors (such as Quadruple or Twin bundles) for circuits up to 400kV.
  • Incorporate optical ground wires (OPGW) into the design to support telecommunication and protection networks.
  • Design the final transition points into substations, coordinating outdoor terminal compounds, structural gantries, and the down-droppers that connect the overhead lines to underground cables.
  • Ensure all designs meet aviation safety regulations by including tower and conductor marking lights and warning spheres.

Vendor Coordination & Documentation:

  • Review and assess vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment manuals to ensure they strictly align with the project's design intent and utility specifications.

Coordinate technical clarifications directly with relay and equipment manufacturers to resolve design discrepancies before manufacturing and delivery.
