Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and attentive Overnight Caregiver to provide high-quality care during nighttime hours. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient observation, medication management, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities by ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition during overnight shifts.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support, including the safe operation of equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Administer medications accurately in accordance with care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Respond promptly to residents’ needs or emergencies, including providing CPR or first aid when necessary.
- Document observations, incidents, and care provided during the shift to ensure seamless communication with daytime staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Support residents with meal preparation or snacks as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed precisely.
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, hospice care, or senior care environments, preferably including assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques, vital signs measurement, and dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong observational skills for patient safety and well-being; excellent communication abilities for effective documentation.
