Job Summary

Trained and Knowledgeable of at least 7 operations within the Packaging Department Contributes to the daily function of the packaging department by performing the routine to complex activities involved in packaging lenses. Must have working knowledge of Packaging areas and must be proficient within primary work area. Previous Packaging Operator experience required. Works under general supervision, requiring minimal direction on new projects or processes. Has good communication skills, math aptitude, problem solving abilities and mechanical aptitude. Acts as a backup in the absence of the Area Coordinator

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate simple to complex machinery. Packaging equipment, labeling machines, vial labeling equipment, glue gun, gluing equipment, computer terminals and Trim Press.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience within the Packaging Department.
  • Demonstrated skills in a lead role preferred.
  • Must have strong mathematic/PC knowledge/skills, or equivalent training or experience.
  • Experience in a warehouse/distribution environment preferred.
  • Good communication, mathematic, problem solving and troubleshooting, and time management skills a must.

Education:

High school degree required.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $18.12 and $20.61 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.


  • Gathers product and material used for packaging as required by work orders.
  • Preps/setup for packaging line.
  • Works with single blisters or arrays to be either labeled, boxed or glued
  • Learns to operate multiple packaging equipment and software.
  • Understands and follows quality requirements. Notifies management of safety issues or improvements.
  • Performs other duties as required, which may include assisting in the training of others, or filling in for sustained periods of time in the absence of others, report completion, etc.
  • Performs troubleshooting on equipment as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May operate and/or work as needed in the packaging department.
  • Responsible for data correction and signature.

    As business dictates, employees may spend 100% of the day performing one particular task or may spend 50% of the day performing 1 task and the other 50% performing a second task.

General Job Requirements:

  • Works scheduled hours and is ready to work at designated start times.
  • As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory Saturdays.
  • Works scheduled holidays in order to maintain service levels for customers.
  • Immediately informs Coordinator/Supervisor of safety, sanitation, and equipment malfunctions and concerns regarding quality issues.
  • Seeks assistance from Coordinator/Supervisor in identifying and reporting problems or concerns relating to job function.
  • As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily Packaging requirements.
  • Adapts readily to changes in workload, staffing and scheduling.
  • Acknowledges and Complies with all company policies and procedures and all SOP’s.
  • Exhibits good communication skills, verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
