Purpose of this job
Our Packers ensure the efficient and accurate packaging of Hilman products for stock and shipment. You will play a key role in the final stages of the production process, preparing goods for distribution while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining quality standards.
What you’ll do
- You will report to our Shipping Manager in the Production Support department.
- Meet daily packaging targets with a high level of accuracy.
- Receive products and parts from Quality Control, then match those items to sales orders before packing and shipping them according to Hilman guidelines and specifications. This includes proper labeling, securely closed/fastened, with necessary distributor stickers and codes attached, along with collecting and documenting weights and dimensions prior to shipping.
- Conduct visual inspections of products to ensure they meet quality standards. If they don’t, you’ll report any damaged or defective items and collaborate with our Shipping Manager and Quality Control to address issues.
- Work with external drivers when they arrive at Hilman’s loading dock to load/unload materials from trucks.
- You will maintain the integrity of all documentation in your possession to be shared with the Shipping Manager at the end of the workday and retained for a minimum of 6 months.
- Track accurate inventory of all consumables used within the department (e.g., pallets, cardboard boxes, staples, shipping tubes, etc.) and notify the Shipping Manager when running low.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to facilitate efficient packaging operations.
- Dispose of packaging materials and waste in accordance with company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who you are
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping, packing, or warehouse role.
- You are organized, can prioritize multiple tasks, and effectively communicate with team members at all levels of our organization.
- You have a strong attention to detail.
Physical demands and work environment
- Continually required to stand.

- Continually required to talk or hear.
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a computer/keyboard.
- Continually required to lift/push/carry items up to and more than 50 pounds.
- Occasional work around fumes (example: paint, forklift, etc.)
- Occasionally exposed to heat or cold (non-weather; limited climate control in the warehouse).
- Frequently exposed to loud noise (example: torque wrench, manufacturing machinery, etc.).
Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Staple gun, overhead crane, forklift (certification provided)

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
