TITLE: PACS & Enterprise Imaging Administrator
JOB OVERVIEW: The PACS (MIMPS) & Enterprise Imaging Administrator is responsible for the configuration, support, and ongoing maintenance of the organization's enterprise imaging systems including radiology and cardiology PACS (also known as Medical Image Management & Processing System, MIMPS), the vendor neutral archive (VNA), enterprise imaging viewer, and all related imaging systems, including AI systems, that support core business operations and patient care delivery. This role works closely with clinical, business, and IT stakeholders, as well as vendors, to ensure system reliability, data integrity, workflow effectiveness, and alignment with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and operational and clinical needs. This position is also responsible for maintaining foundational awareness of network, server, and interface infrastructure to support application troubleshooting, integrations, and effective collaboration with infrastructure teams.
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology Operations
WORK HOURS: Core business hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Employees may be expected to work off hours as necessary to fulfill responsibilities or meet business needs.
REPORTS TO: IT Manager
PREREQUISITES:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum 2 years of experience in general IT, radiology/cardiology technologist, diagnostic imaging department support, or relevant operational/functional roles required.
Strong understanding of clinical imaging workflows, processes, or system configuration required.
Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
General understanding of Medical Imaging Informatics including radiation, dose, modalities, and post processing systems preferred.
Certification from the American Board of Imaging Informatics (CIIP) or the PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association (PARCA) (CPAS, CDIP or CPSA) is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience supporting multiple functional domains.
Experience with PACS (MIMPS) platforms such as Fuji Synapse, Philips IntelliSpace as well as with PowerScribe, Fuji Synapse VNA and familiarity PACS (MIMPS) specific diagnostic monitors and hardware.
Experience with enterprise reporting, auditing, or regulatory compliance requirements.
Prior experience in healthcare, public sector, or large enterprise environments.
Familiarity with change management, testing methodologies, and system governance practices.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, produce accurate work, and meet deadlines.
Ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and numerous interruptions.
Demonstrated competence in analysis and troubleshooting with a preference to healthcare computing environments.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, learn quickly with strong attention to detail.
Proven record of excellent communication and organizational skills.
UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily sedentary work performed in an office or remote environment. Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasional lifting of light equipment (up to 40 pounds). May require off-hours support during critical system events, upgrades, or outages.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
Module and Application Support
Support one or more assigned enterprise or clinical applications, modules, or functional areas under the direction of senior analysts or application leads.
Serve as a resource for assigned systems, including supported business or clinical workflows, system configuration, data flow, and integrations.
Support the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard related to system operations.
Apply knowledge of the HL7 standard for exchanging, integrating, sharing, and retrieving electronic health information, particularly related to patient registration and reporting in a PACS (MIMPS) environment. Including integration with RIS.
Assist with user training, job aids, and knowledge transfer activities.
Configure and maintain applications based on approved designs and standards, escalating deviations or risks to senior analysts or application owners.
Work with business, clinical, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, support workflow improvements, and translate operational needs into system updates or enhancements ensuring compliance with standard practices.
Collaborate with departments across the company and with hospital IT and Imaging teams on planning, installation, execution, maintenance, and support of PACS (MIMPS) related projects.
Assist in evaluating, documenting, and implementing system enhancements, optimizations, and approved configuration changes.
Participate in application or module-specific testing, validation, upgrades, and post-implementation support activities.
Maintain application documentation, configuration records, security roles, workflows, with established data governance and organizational and compliance standards.
Maintain awareness of application infrastructure dependencies (environments, interfaces, integrations, identity access, and modalities) and escalate issues or risks as appropriate.
Collaborate with infrastructure, integration, biomed, and security teams to support system operation and escalate risks or concerns.
Solution Design & Configuration
Support analysis of business requirements; assist in translating needs into system configurations and solution designs under senior guidance.
Configure standard business rules, workflows, security roles, and data elements within assigned domains following established standards.
Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities and support changes that reduce manual work and improve data accuracy.
Support & Troubleshooting
Provide day-to-day system support; investigate issues and escalate complex incidents to senior analysts as appropriate.
Analyze and monitor system performance and make proactive recommendations to improve performance and stability.
Integrations & Data
Support troubleshooting of integrations and data interfaces by validating data, reviewing errors, and coordinating with senior analysts.
Assist with data reconciliation activities and support reporting and integration teams to ensure data accuracy.
Support maintaining data integrity related to quality assurance (QA) and PACS (MIMPS) reconciliations.
Release & Change Management
Participate in release impact reviews, regression testing, and validation activities.
Participate in change request intake, documentation, and testing activities in alignment with governance processes.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Work closely with senior analysts to learn configuration standards, testing practices, and documentation expectations.
Participate in workstreams and stakeholder meetings; track action items and support resolution of assigned tasks.
IT Department General Requirements
Communicate regularly with lead/Manager, including weekly activity updates, system status, risks, and issues.
Promptly escalates problems, unexpected work, service impacts, and missed targets.
Document system changes, incidents, and issues in accordance with departmental procedures.
Respond to service requests and inquiries in line with departmental standards.

Support the security and privacy of systems, data, reports, and devices in accordance with organizational and departmental policies.
Provide after-hours and on-call support as required.
Maintain access to and can successfully use the enterprise network and supported applications.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings as needed, including scheduling, defining agenda, and distributing minutes.
Engage vendors for support and issue resolution when appropriate.
Participate in contract-related discussions, maintain accurate licensing inventories, and track renewal dates and usage.

Bachelor's degree plus 2-3 years industry related experience, OR associate degree and four (4) years related experience, OR five (5) years related experience.

Bachelor's degree plus 5 (five) years industry related experience, OR associate degree and six (6) years related experience, OR at least seven (7) years related experience.
Applied Job Experience: Information Services Background: Industry experience required as a PACS Administrator, Enterprise Imaging Administrator or Information Technology Analyst. Mastery of Complex/Multiple Resources Small Project lead experience required.
Exceptional knowledge of PACS, VNA, and various imaging software systems that are frequently used in the imaging environment as well as extensive imaging patient flows is required.
