Paediatric Cardiac Operating Theatre Nurse

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform scrub nurse duties for pediatric cardiac surgical procedures, ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical fields.
• Anticipate surgeon requirements and assist effectively throughout cardiac procedures.
• Ensure correct handling, counting, and documentation of surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps.
• Support patient safety through compliance with surgical safety checklists and protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and OT nursing teams.
• Participate in infection prevention, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate perioperative documentation and comply with hospital and accreditation standards.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior OT nursing staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Registered Nurse (RN) / GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post-Basic Nursing
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a scrub nurse, preferably in pediatric cardiac or cardiac OT.
• Certification in BLS and PALS/ACLS preferred.
• Proven competence in handling pediatric cardiac surgical instruments and procedures.
