Job Overview

Duties
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history review and physical examinations focused on pain assessment
- Develop individualized pain management treatment plans incorporating pharmacologic therapies, interventional procedures, and non-invasive techniques
- Utilize advanced imaging modalities such as CT scans, ultrasound, and other diagnostic radiology tools to inform treatment decisions
- Perform interventional procedures including nerve blocks, epidural injections, and botulinum toxin treatments to alleviate pain
- Collaborate with specialists across disciplines such as neurology, orthopedics, psychiatry, and physical therapy to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR systems to document assessments, treatments, and follow-up care accurately
- Educate patients on pain management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication administration while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Participate in clinical research initiatives and stay current with advancements in pain medicine and related fields
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pain medicine principles and practices with experience in acute and chronic pain management
- Proficiency in medical imaging techniques including CT scans and ultrasound-guided procedures
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms for efficient documentation and patient tracking
- Strong understanding of pharmacology related to analgesics, opioids, botulinum toxin treatments, and other medications used in pain control
- Ability to perform interventional radiology procedures like nerve blocks or catheterizations with aseptic technique
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings with a focus on patient service excellence
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy relevant to pain pathways and treatment options
- Skills in airway management, sedation protocols, and basic life support (BLS) for procedural safety
- Competence in triage assessment for urgent pain cases within emergency or urgent care environments
- Familiarity with clinical research protocols related to pain medicine innovations
- Excellent communication skills for patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and documentation compliance
